Edinburgh: The Old Town

Take a crawl through the ‘Old Town’ district of Scotland’s capital city. Walking just over a mile (1.9 km) and stopping at anywhere from 4 to 8 historic pubs, spend some time drinking in Auld Reekie’s history, haunts and ‘howffs’. Following in the footsteps of Robbie Burns and William Wordsworth, Oliver Cromwell and Doctor Johnson, you will encounter everything from archbishops to arch villains; faithful friends to murderers, body snatchers, baby killers and thieves. You will hear of tales of dark, dank prisons and public executions, riots and rebellion, religion and romance all while walking the beautiful UNESCO World Heritage Site of Edinburgh. Depending on how many pubs you stop at, and for how long, the crawl could last from just two hours to as many as five. Lose yourself in the cobbled streets, stairs and alleyways of Edinburgh’s Old Town and take some time drinking in its ‘auld’ world atmosphere.
